Design and Implementation of Secure, Scalable Customer-Facing Power BI Reporting

Adalta needed a secure and scalable way to provide customer-facing reporting from a Dataverse-based position management platform. While internal Power BI reporting was already in place, the challenge was to turn this into a repeatable, client-ready analytics capability that could scale across multiple customers and future data sources.

MyDataWorks worked with Adalta to design a pragmatic reporting architecture that balanced speed of delivery with long-term flexibility. This included reviewing existing Dataverse structures and Power BI datasets, defining a clear data and access model, and implementing robust row-level security to ensure customers only see data relevant to their own accounts and purchase groups.

To support different stages of product maturity, two delivery approaches were designed:

  • Direct Power BI access for rapid rollout while requirements were still evolving

  • A future-ready option for embedded dashboards within a customer portal, providing a more polished, product-like experience

The engagement also established clear patterns for onboarding additional datasets in future, allowing Adalta to extend the same reporting model to other platforms without reworking the core architecture.

The result is a secure, scalable analytics foundation that enables Adalta to confidently offer customer-facing reporting, while retaining flexibility as both the product and customer needs continue to evolve.
